Holiday Baskets provides holiday food and gift support to Shoreline School District families who are experiencing circumstances that make it challenging to provide those things for their children. The program is a combined effort Shoreline PTA Council, Shoreline Fire Department, Hopelink, Rotary Club of Lake Forest Park, the City of Shoreline and Dale Turner Family YMCA.
This year’s Holiday Baskets food & gifts distribution to families will be held on Saturday, December 12 at the Shoreline Center, 18560 1st Ave. NE.

We are committed to continuing to provide City services to our community members while following the Governor's guidelines to ensure public and staff safety. Shoreline City Hall is closed to the public, but is providing most City services. City services are being offered remotely by telephone, email, and online. Visit the City staff directory for individual staff contact information.
We urge Shoreline residents to continue to take prevention measures seriously. As the weather gets cooler and many of us spend more time inside, prevention measures remain critically important. Closed windows decrease fresh airflow which can increase risk, compounded by the number of people you have inside. PLEASE wear face coverings when you go out and inside when gathering with anyone who is not a member of your household. Limit the number of people you're with and the length of time you're with them indoors, maintain six feet of distance, improve ventilation in indoor spaces by opening windows when possible, wash your hands or use sanitizing gel frequently, and get tested at the first sign of illness.
A successful safe start depends on everyone doing their part. As we gradually reopen, it’s still safest to stay home. When leaving home, practice physical distancing of at least six feet is required and use a cloth face covering. To prevent spread of COVID-19 among counties, stay local.

- Eviction moratorium extended - Governor Inslee has extended the eviction moratorium to December 31, 2020.
- New outdoor recreation guidelines - The Governor's office has issued updates to the Safe Start reopening plan that include guidance for more school and non-school sports. Please see the City Parks and Recreation tab below for details on Shoreline field use requirements.
- Halloween safety - For those who celebrate Halloween, please remember to stay safe! Public Health - Seattle & King County have tips for celebrating on their website.
- Mental Health Resources have been added to the "Help for Individuals and Businesses" tab below.
- Remote Learning Camps - The City of Shoreline is offering weekly remote learning camps for students in all grades in the Shoreline School District. FREE for qualifying families. Payment plans and scholarships are available. Learn more on the Remote Learning Camps page.
- King County Eviction Prevention and Rent Assistance - This program distributes tenant rental assistance directly to landlords who agree to participate. Eligible tenants must submit a tenant interest form and will be chosen by lottery on a weekly basis. Learn more about tenant eligibility and the program on King County's website.
- Veteran Housing Assistance: King County Veterans Program has funding for housing stabilization services. Funds up to $1,500 are available for both rent and mortgages. Veterans, service members, and their families are eligible. Contact Seattle KCVP at 206-477-8282. View the information flier for more information.
- COVID-19 Testing: If you have a primary care physician, please ask their office about testing availability. Public Health - Seattle and King County maintains a list of free testing locations that are open to anyone. The closest location for Shoreline residents is a site hosted by the City of Seattle at 12040 Aurora Ave N., Seattle, WA 98133. Make a reservation online or by phone at (206) 684-2489.
Volunteer Opportunities
Creating a Neighborhood Safety Net
The 4 Corners Association is made up from the four neighborhoods, which touch at the corner of Richmond Beach Road and 8th Avenue NW. We are Hillwood, Innis Arden, Richmond Beach, and Richmond Highlands. The Association has created a Safety Net guide that will help you build, a secure communication network for your immediate neighbors, which can be used in emergencies and an easy way of getting to know those around you.
A Safety Net Coordinator is someone who takes the initiative to get the ball rolling. The steps are all laid out for you and neighborhood representatives of the 4 Corners Association are willing to provide additional instructions and to answer any questions you may have.

The 4 Corners Association is made up from the four neighborhoods, which touch at the corner of Richmond Beach Road and 8th Avenue NW. We are Hillwood, Innis Arden, Richmond Beach, and Richmond Highlands. The Association has created a Safety Net guide that will help you build, a secure communication network for your immediate neighbors, which can be used in emergencies and an easy way of getting to know those around you.
A Safety Net Coordinator is someone who takes the initiative to get the ball rolling. The steps are all laid out for you and neighborhood representatives of the 4 Corners Association are willing to provide additional instructions and to answer any questions you may have.
Here are the basic steps:
- Distribute the following “Know your Neighbors” Resident Information form along with your personalized version (you will be the Safety Net Coordinator) of the sample cover letter and contact information to neighbors near you—typically 5-10 nearby homes.
- Compile the returned Resident Information and create a list of residents’ names, addresses, and text/phone numbers. This can be simple list or get creative with a map like the one shown as an example.
- Distribute compiled list or map back to all your neighbors. The easiest way would be to send information via email or text as an introduction to the net you created.
- Contact your 4 Corners Captain, Executive Director Teresa Pape at [email protected] to let us know you’ve stepped up to be your Block’s Safety Net Coordinator. Be sure to indicate which Neighborhood you’re in.
