Well, it looks like the facelift is underway. There are no City permits filed, so there's nothing to point you to. If you recall, this project will upgrade the overall look of the development, with stone columns and a new color scheme. - June 18
Richmond Village (QFC Redevelopment)
Lisa's Notes from the Richmond Beach Community Association meeting (as of 3/17/2013)...
"Richmond Village" is a family owned and run center that has been in the same family for 4 generations. What they are doing is a full facelift (not really a redevelopment).
QFC will get 2 stone cones, soffit lighting, and new sidewalks. They will be putting in new parking lot lights as well. The former "Ace" space has no tenant as yet; they are hoping that QFC will decide to enlarge their store to take over that space, but they do also have some potential clients that they're talking to. The dry cleaners and Puerto Venito will also get 2 stone columns apiece as well as roof overhangs.
Whidbey Island Bank will be done in the same materials and colors as the rest of the development. They will be reconfiguring the parking lot so that it serves the complex better; trees will be coming back, but their placement is not yet clear - where they were previously, the root systems were starting to come up through the pavement, which is bad both for the pavement and the tree.
The chiropractic office is part of this piece of property, but is not part of this project yet; there is some concern about how Point Wells might impact setbacks and such.
They are hoping to be good to go by April (permits etc), and estimate completion in about 3 months. All businesses will remain open during construction.
